The Bird That Drove Us art print
story of The Bird That Drove Us art print:
Grandad said the car still ran fine, even if the wheels were more like red buttons and the road had gone missing years ago. He kept both hands on the steering wheel anyway, serious as a judge, while I sat beside him pretending not to be scared of the sky-green emptiness all around us. Then the giant bird leaned in from the right, feathers smeared with pink and sunlight, its beak pointing forward like it knew the way better than any map. Grandad whispered that the bird used to visit him when he was a boy, back when he could still hear the river talk at night, and that if you followed it you’d end up where lost things go. We drifted past a pale balloon and scraps of color that looked like old arguements left unfinished, and I swear the bird blinked at me like it recognised my face. I wanted to ask where we were headed, but the answer felt too big for words, so I just held on and let the painty wind carry us.
