The Pink Cape Walk art print
story of The Pink Cape Walk art print:
He always came through town right before sundown, a tall shadow in a black hat, wrapped in that loud pink cape like he was daring the world to stare. Folks said he was a drifter, but I knew better, because he never bought food, only plants. Two bags swinging at his side, one bright red like a warning, the other clear with white blooms tucked in damp moss, careful as secrets. He’d stop near the patch of cactus behind the old motel and stand there a long minute, listening, like the spines and pads were telling him where to go next. The first time I followed, I found a tiny ribbon tied to a cactus arm, and a note that said, “For the things that survive without applause.” After that, I quit asking who he was. Some nights you just let a stranger plant hope and walk away, even if it feels a little strange, and a little sad.
