The old black car sits like it’s waiting for someone who’s late on purpose, patched up with scraps of posters and torn notices like bandages from a long year. There’s a target painted on the door, not as a threat but as a promise: this is where the past keeps hittin, over and over, till you finally look at it. In front of it, the lonely chair was dragged out for a witness, the kind of seat you put on the curb when you can’t stand inside your own house anymore. People in the neighborhood said the driver used to park here every Friday night, engine off, radio low, just listening to the street breathe. One day he never came back, but the car stayed in everybody’s mind, and the wall behind it kept collecting paper and dust like a diary nobody can finish. Sometimes, if you stand there long enough, you swear you can hear the click of keys and a sigh, like the car is trying to start again but doesnt know where to go.
