Headlight of Last Summer art print
story of Headlight of Last Summer art print:
The first thing you see is the headlight, wide as an eye, like the car is trying to remember something it can’t quite say out loud. It belonged to my uncle’s old red coupe, the one he swore would “make it one more season” even when the paint was peeling and the radio only played static. One late evening we drove with the windows down, salt air cutting in from the coast, and every streetlight smeared across the glass like little comets. We didn’t talk much, just let the engine do the talking, and somehow that felt like forgiveness. I painted it later from memory, not exact, more like how it felt: loud reds, deep blues, and that headlight holding a small, shaky world inside it, still shining even when the rest of the summer was already slipping away.
