Around it, the dried seed heads and pale leaves were pinned down like memories you dont want to lose, their thin lines fanning out like tiny fireworks that never make a sound. I kept rearranging the pieces on my desk, trying to make the scene feel less lonely, but the more I moved them, the more it looked like a small funeral for summer. In the end I left it exactly how it fell, crooked and honest, and it felt like the bug was keeping watch over a season that slipped away too fast.
