The Crocodile in the Conservatory art print
story of The Crocodile in the Conservatory art print:
They found the crocodile on a rainy Tuesday, hanging perfectly still in the old conservatory room like it had always belonged there. Someone had strung it up with thin wires from the cracked ceiling tiles, careful as a surgeon, and tucked potted trees around it so the leaves brushed its scales like shy hands. The radiator clicked and hissed, warming the place just enough to make the air feel alive, and for a second you could swear the croc’s eye followed you. The caretaker said it was a “lesson in patience,” left by a former botanist who missed the swamps but couldnt leave the city, so he built his own wetland out of houseplants and silence. At night, when the building settled, the branches creaked like distant reeds, and the crocodile seemed to float lower, inch by inch, as if the room itself was slowly turning back into a river.
