Mara said it was a map of a storm she once watched from a bus window, the way the wind pulled at power lines and made the sky look stitched together. She worked late, bending the metal with numb fingers, trying to catch that exact moment when something almost breaks but doesnt. In the daylight it looks like a trap for dust, but at night the shadows stretch across the walls and it turns into a flying thing, hovering just above the floorboards like it’s deciding whether to leave or stay. People stand close, whispering, because it feels like the room is breathing around it, and you can almost hear the wire hum if you listen too hard.
