The Egg That Listened art print
story of The Egg That Listened art print:
On a rainy afternoon the village found a strange egg perched on a strip of green hill, warm as a pocket stone and freckled with deep blue spots like tiny bruises from another world. No one dared crack it, because every time the wind leaned close, the pale center seemed to glow and hush the whole field, as if it was listening back. Mara, the baker’s kid, brought it crumbs and little songs, and swore she heard faint replies, not words exactly, more like the sound of far away waves trapped inside a shell. The elders said it was bad luck, but the egg never rolled, never cooled, just waited, patient and stubborn. When the storm finally broke and the sky cleared, the hill smelled new again, and Mara realized the egg wasn’t meant to hatch into a creature at all, it was meant to hatch into a morning.
