Every night she’d step out, open that beak-mouth to sing, and the tent would go still, like even the candles were listening. Folks said her songs could make lost kids find their parents, or make mean men rember how to be gentle, but she always left before the applause, slipping into the alleys with feathers stuck to her collar. Years later, this print is all thats left, smelling faintly of dust and roses, and if you stare long enough you can almost hear the last note trembling in the paper.
